Project Update; 11/04/2019

Focused on finishing level 4 (Circus)

I have now added an end point which the player can win, i have also added an ending for level 3 as well.

I've added some sound effects such as jumping and some character speech. I have also focused on make more puzzles such as jumping on objects to get to the other side and avoid being killed by daggers and death traps etc.

I have also added in the section where you find 3 of your friends which I wanted to do as it was my main point for the story for the circus.

I have also focused a little of level 2 (house)

Rather than focusing on the environment, I have focused on the functionality instead. I have added an AI which will only attack/come after you if your not looking at it.

I have also decided to do some animation editing for some of the AI characters as i want to show a small story of what happened to the house before you got there.

My aim for next week is to have:
>Well created AI that functions and looks good.
>Audio of story-line added
>Finished animations for AI
>Finished enviornment for House

If completed the next environment (The School) will be focused on when all my targets are done

Project Update: 03/04/2019

Today I have focused on adding collectables and props in level 3:
In level 3 (The Forest) you have to find two different objects.

One being the drill parts their are 3 to find and locate once you have found each part you can find it laying next to a cave put together.
The second is the batteries. There are 8 to collect, once all have been collect the battery will located with the drill parts

>Next time I will be wanting to add it where the rock is destroyed by the drill and you find the escape area.

I have also placed in some cages in the level where there will be wolfs and crows inside them.

Depending on the timer, (Right now it stands that 5mins for wolfs and 10mins for crows) they will be released which the player must try and avoid.

>>I need to add animation to the animals and add the basic blueprints of attack and player damage.

I have focused on some lighting changes and have made the level lighter as it shows the details I have done to the environment including the floor.

Some player settings have changed:

Sprint: 1000
Walk: 550
This was due to the walk seeming to slow and making the sprint being used when not necessary.

Project Update: 28/03/2019

Today I have focused on tweaking and developing my second environment the "forest" which is level 3. I believe this would be the level that should be the quickest and easiest to focus on.

Here are some screen shots which i have took so far. I have added water, spine, and paint effects and assets to the game which took some time editing, however it was worth it to make the simple environment immersive:

I have focused a little more on the ending of the circus level with adding a final exit, however I have stopped and my priority is the second environment.

I feel as long as I focus on my work at home and anytime I can I believe I will get my project done and working as I want it.
This environment will be one of the darkest due to it having limited lighting opportunities. Instead the player will be given a camera which has a night vision mode.

I've had trouble with the night vision and it makes it hard to see far distances, which is a big problem. If I cant find a way to solve this I will probably make a torch/flashlight for the player instead.

In this section I will be hopefully expanding the environment and making it where the player can escape when the player has managed to collect all the objects.

Im also thinking about a hidden escape root, however I will do that if I have time to spare.

My next focus will be aimed at the objectives for the second environment and what the player must do / collect to win.

My second focus would be to make either the school or house environment.

project update: 15/03/2019

I have completed the main menu which all i have to do now if link the levels - this is when ive created them.

The main menu has 6 picture links and two text links

Campaign link will take you to the second image shown, This gives you choice of picking which tale you want to play.

The settings link will take your to the third image shown. This changes the graphics, options difficulty etc.

the first picture link will take you to a word document going in depth about each tale

the 4 smaller pictures in the centre are guides for each level if your a beginner and don't understand the controls or objects

the last image takes you to a word document or my blog explaining how i designed the game in depth

Some smaller details I added was adding a user name which is displayed at the bottom right hand corner which takes your computers name and displays it there.

Hovering over the links will add a small animation and active a sound.

I have also added a cool detail of a box which creates a glitched affect which i added for the title.

Project update: 24/02/2019

Added a objective blueprint which changes the objective depending where you are in the level and what you have picked up.

The "Objectives" is a static text which means it has no function except displaying that text.
The text underneath however is connected to a string which I named "Objective text" and "Bonus text" these are connected to either the main objective or the secondary objective. I have added a collision box which activates the next objective when the player has collided with the box.
The image you can see is the same text which has changed due to me crossing the collision box.

Project Update: 23/02/2019

I have done a large amount of work related to the project.

The main sections I focused on was:

Players HUD - pause menu and camera
On the camera you can see the following:
Health and Stamina
The objective - (when I add one)
Night vision battery life
Record effect
zoom in and out bar
I have the resume, quit and exit working the save and load will be focused on next week

To have this pop up I have used the ESC key.

I have added a main menu, however I might restart it due to me not liking the design.

Level 2: The Circus environment

This is a pic of a small bit of the level that I have focused on so far
some props such as walls are from:
Grasslands
Dungeon-pack

Sounds: music
Music from soundtrackuniverse.com - This is the URL which I got my circus music from

Images/textures/materials
I have been collecting images from the internet and some of my own designs and been adding them all around the level. This example are posters at the beginning of the level

Movies
These are intro movies which are shown before the game starts. I have added the unreal intro and my own created intro which shows my 4 tales title.

Project update - 07/02/2019

Today I finished my players HUD

This involved having two different widgets:

The first widget is basic and what you would normally find on a players HUD. An Example; health, stamina, objectives etc.

The second widget is the camera that I will be using instead of a flashlight. The camera has the choice of enabling night-vision if the level becomes to dark, however this will drain the cameras batteries.

I have also designed batteries and stats that show how many the player has in their inventory.

I also included a some blueprint which behaves like a health kit. I will later on design the health-kit and batteries later.

--------------------
NEXT WEEK:

(Will) 1. I'm wanting the main menu to be functioning correctly and finished

(Should) 2. Add a intro title movie for the game - most likely going to make using either moviemaker or Adobe After Affects.

(Hope) 3. Create a blueprint for collecting letters
